Camps Bay is one of the most popular and beautiful places in Cape Town. It is also one of the most affluent and expensive, both in terms of accommodation and nightlife. Originally Camps Bay was a popular picnic spot that Capetonians used to come out to, but in the late 1990’s it was incorporated into Cape Town and became a residential area.
Many people choose to get married in Camps Bay, on the beach or on the mountain over looking the bay. In addition to this, even more people choose to have their honeymoon in Camps Bay. Although it is a part of Cape Town, it has a village feel and it is fairly safe to walk along its beachfront during the day and at night. There are many restaurants along the promenade, with varying levels of quality food and prices.
Some of the top things to do in Camps Bay include spending the day at the beach, going on one of the numerous hikes/walks up the mountain or Signal Hill. You can also be a little adventurous and para glide off the side of Signal Hill down to Camps Bay beach. Sitting on the beach you will have a few of the ocean in front of you, and the Twelve Apostles running the length behind you.
