Popular areas to stay in the Kalahari

The main areas in the Kalahari include: Kuruman, Black Rock, Dibeng, Dingleton, Hotazel, Kathu, Olifantshoek and Van Zylsrus. The Kalahari is a place like no other, with a landscape so foreign it looks almost alien-like. The red sands seem to go on forever, with dunes the size of mountains and a sun that seems to never set. The Kalahari is not a true desert as it does get roughly 250mm of rainfall per year, although it is hot, humid and dry. One of the most popular places to visit is the Eye of Kuruman, which is an amazing spring that pumps millions of litres of water.

Apart from visiting Kuruman to see the Eye, you can go on a 4×4 trail, and even go hunting.
