Magaliesburg info

Magaliesburg is where most Joburgers go to get out of the City, and with good reason. Being only an hour or so from Joburg, means that short weekend breaks are easy to organise and get to. Also, Magaliesburg couldnÕt be in more stark contrast to Johannesburg. It is nature at its best Š rivers, mountains, valleys and woodland. Most people choose to stay in farmhouses or to stay in a cottage on a working farm. When we went there we stayed at a place called Stone Hill, which is a small farm with wild horses roaming the premises. We chose it as it is pet friendly (important to us and our dogs) and well prices. Being pet friendly does mean that we pay a premium compared to standard accommodation.

Map/Location

Things to do: Go Horse riding or on micro light flights at Saddle Creek Ranch. There are hot air balloons (but this is typically pricey), and a Canopy tour for the more brave. However the main reason for going to Magaliesburg is to relax and get away from city living so make sure you get out and just go for walks and picnics, enjoying not seeing a building for miles and miles.
