Popular areas to stay in George

George is the administrative centre of the Garden Route, and is located in a region called the Cape Wildflower Floral Kingdom. It is a beautiful part of the country and known as the unofficial capital of the Garden Route. The town was at one point in time known as Outeniqualand by the Khoi people who inhabited it. This means ‘land of milk and honey’, and George has lost none of its lushness.

Things to do in George

One of the coolest things to do is to take a trip on the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe. This is the last schedule steam train service and runs between George and Knysna, with breathtaking views of the Garden Route coast. There are also some truly world standard golf courses as well. Overall though visitors to George should lay back and relax and enjoy the town for its calm and relaxed attitude
