Popular areas to stay in St Francis Bay
St Francis Bay is about half-way between Port Elizabeth and Knysna. It is a very quiet, peaceful little village, that provides a nice escape from City living. The temperature is fairly temperate with winter being around 12C and summer going up to 30C. History goes that St Francis Bay was ‘discovered’ by the Portuguese and named after the Patron Saint of Sailors. A popular attraction is the Kromme River, which can be navigated for 10km. Numerous homes and holiday homes are built along its banks, which provides a breathtaking setting.
The St Francis Resort is quite popular and offers a mix of cottages, apartments and secluded villas.
Things to do in St Francis Bay
Being coastal, the usual beach-type activities apply. Sun yourself on the beach while enjoying a swim. Go out to sea on a boat and relax with a few sundowners or take part in some fishing. Alternatively just take walks through the small village and enjoy the scenery.
