OR Tambo Airport is situated in Kempton Park. This means that a lot of the accommodation (if you are not staying directly at the airport) will be in Kempton Park. There is accommodation on the airport property, but these are mainly the large hotel group hotels, and often include a casino, cinema and restaurants. Hotels at the airport include the Southern Sun Hotels. For a more genuine experience we recommend you stay at one of the nearby self catering or B&B accommodation in Kempton Park. Many of these places will either offer free airport transfer or offer it for an additional cost. In addition if you have hired a car, most of the establishments will have secure off-street parking.

Or Tambo is the busiest airport in South Africa, and indeed Africa (followed by Cairo International). It receives alot of domestic as well as international traffic, either the business traveller (as Johannesburg is the economic power house of Africa) or for pleasure – most people will use Johannesburg as their base before heading off to Durbs, Cape Town or the Kruger National Park. The airport used to be called Jan Smuts International, and was then called Johannesburg International, until being changed to OR Tambo. The annual capacity is 28 million passengers.
