History & general info about Bilene
Bilene is a holiday village situated on the banks of the salt water Uembje Lagoon. A large sandbar almost completely separates the area from the ocean, but a channel connecting the lagoon with the sea makes taking boat trips accessible and easy. The town is also referred to as Praia do Bilene and is said to be the nearest beach destination to Johannesburg in South Africa.
