Jamaica Flights
Jamaica is the 3rd-largest Caribbean
island and is the adopted home of the Rasta. The renowned birthplace of
Bob Marley is an explosion of colour and beauty. Red, gold and green
artifacts abound, and breath-taking mountain peaks surround tropical
flower paradises and white beaches. The island centers on rum, coffee,
rice-and-peas and cricket. For tourists, there
is a huge array of
attractions. The parks and beaches provide beautiful chill-out venues,
and there are a number of fine restaurants and neon-lit night venues.
Jamaica’s 2 main coastal resorts, Negril and Montego Bay,
offer everything from golfing to food to clubs and beach venues. Negril
is fairly laid back with 11 km’s of coastline lined with
funky beach bars. Montego Bay, known by most as Mo’ Bay, is a
party and shopping paradise. Jamaica also offers a quieter retreat for
those who aren’t in the mood for partying. A journey along
the coast reveals street markets and vendors from the local fishing
villages peddling a variety of food and knick-knacks.
Places
to Visit in Jamaica
Although
it has a tendency to be
over-crowded, the Dunn’s
River Falls warrant a visit. The 600-foot drop into the ocean is made
up by a series of protruding rock ledges that act as a natural
stairway. A guide will help you climb to the top or, for the less
daring, the pools at the bottom provide the ideal swimming location.
Just be prepared for countless vendors descending on you at the summit.
Nearby Dolphin Cove allows you to play with the dolphins. Anyone over
the age of 8 can swim with the animals, while the youngsters can get
up-close and personal with them in the shallow-water touch sessions.
Reggae Explosion is an interactive museum chronicling
Reggae’s roots and paying homage to Bob Marley and other
stars. The island also offers various rafting, bicycling and
horse-riding activities along the vast coastlines.
Airports
in Jamaica
There are 2 international airports in Jamaica, namely Norman Manley
International Airport in Kingston and Sangster International Airport in
Montego Bay. There are a number of private and military airports
throughout the area, but the main domestic airports servicing Jamaica
are Tinson Pen Aerodrome in Kingston, Negril Aerodrome in Negril,
Boscobel Aerodrome in Ocho Rios and Ken Jones Aerodrome in Port
Antonio.
