Atlanta is a state of unrivalled beauty. The landscape is made up of undulating hills, large coastal plains and majestic rugged mountains. It’s uniquely positioned in the northern half of Georgia and is the transportation core of the south. Railroads, highways and one of the world’s busiest airports make Atlanta easily accessible and highly attractive to the convention trade. The city can lay claim to a local drugstore, Jacob’s Pharmacy, which, way back in 1886, started selling a headache and hangover tonic known as Coca-Cola – the first step in the development of the now powerful Coca-Cola Company. It is also the birthplace of the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and the city has also played host to the Olympic Games. Atlanta is both traditional and modern – a growing economy that hasn’t forgotten how to move at a leisurely pace.
