Flights to Greece.

Considered by many as the birthplace of European civilization, Greece is an amazing mix of historical heritage and modern attractions. Ancient Greece is well known for both its cultural and artistic contributions to the world, with amazing works of architecture, sculpture, drama and literature evident throughout. It is also the proud host of the original Olympic Games. Many people visit Greece purely to revel in some of its history. Locations such as the Parthenon, Delphi’s Temple of Apollo, and the ruins of the Minóan city of Knossós on Crete see tourists flocking there on a daily basis. In addition to the mainland, many people are attracted to Greece’s spectacular islands. Scattered throughout the Aegean and the Ionian seas are 1400 breath-taking islands, each beautiful in its own way and each with its own offerings to the public.

Places to Visit

If you happen to be in Greece between June and September, the Hellenic Festival is a must-see event. Here traditional music, dance and theatre performances are held in the second-century AD Odeion of Herodes in Athens, and there are also classical Greek dramas taking place in the fourth-century BC amphitheatre in Epidaurus. With Greece’s various beaches and islands, water-sports are very common. Sailing and windsurfing are common sights, whilst diving, snorkeling or just soaking up the sun are just as popular. For those feeling a bit more adventurous, a hike along the Samaria Gorge in Crete or a climb up Mount Olympus might be in order.
