Cheap Zimbabwe Flights
Zimbabwe is unfortunately a turbulent and
tragic neighbor of South Africa. President Robert Mugabe took power in
1987 and has since caused the complete collapse of the Zimbabwean
economy, widespread famine and the brutal and violent removal of many
white farmers. There is also a massive HIV/AIDS pandemic within the
country, with an estimated quarter of the population believed to be
infected. This has all led to international exclusion and scorn. There
is however a glimmer of hope for the country. The MDC (Movement for
Democratic Change) is a political party that is challenging the current
leadership and will hopefully bring tourists flocking back to the
potentially beautiful country. Zimbabwe boasts a number of wildlife
parks, and the waterfalls and other natural sites offer wonderful
safari holiday destinations. The country also houses evidence of great
African heritage in the ruins of the descendants of the Bantu tribes.
The country’s capital is Harare and the languages spoken include
English, Shona and Sindebele.
Places to Visit in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is unfortunately a very turbulent
country and caution should be taken when planning a visit there. There
are however a number of wonderful tourist destinations. The most famous
would be Victoria Falls. The area offers 5 star accommodation and
includes activities such as river rafting, bungee jumping and flights
over the falls. Another great destination is the Mana Pools along the
Zambezi River. Here you will find Africa’s only national park
allowing unguided walking safaris, despite the presence of lions in the
park, and there is also the option of canoeing past the hippos and
crocodiles in the Zambezi. The Great Zimbabwe Ruins offer a glimpse
into Africa’s heritage, and the world-renowned Eastern Highlights
offers fishing, gambling safaris and even gambling. Zimbabwe’s
capital, Harare, also offers a number of tourist attractions. The town
boasts a number of museums, gardens and parks, galleries and game
viewing.
