Maputo
is the capital of Mozambique and has a population of roughly 2million
people. It is a port city and was one of the most popular and
fashionable cities in Africa, until the war. Since the war the city was
left in fairly bad disrepair with litter everywhere and a lack of basic
services and infrastructure. However it is slowly rebuilding and
definitely worth a visit. Maputo has a very strong South African
influence.

Places
to Visit in Maputo
Visit
the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Conceiao (Our Lady of Conception) and the
Central Railway Station. There are also plenty of markets with
fantastic food, like peri-peri prawns.

main airport in Maputo is called the Lourenço Marques
Airport, which is around 3km from Maputo.

from South Africa to Maputo
It used
to be that the only airline to fly to Maputo was SAA (flysaa
com). However since then, LAM
Airways started offering a
constant service. It was always a little difficult to book with them
though. 1time (1
time) are now flying there as
well and a new airline was recently launched called TTA
Airlink which will do the
route.
