Lilongwe Flights
Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi. It
is very popular with expatriates and NGO's - which use it as a base
into Malawi. It is also the seat or parliament. However, the biggest
city and the one with the most economic clout is Blantyre. Although
Lilongwe has many modern first world aspects, like top notch
restaurants, pubs and clubs, most of the locals do live in poverty and
struggle day to day. Like the rest of Africa, summer in Lilongwe is hot
and humid. Unlike in South Africa, Lilongwe is divided into different
Areas, which are numbered. Many shops that appear in SA also appear in
Lilongwe, and include Shoprite, Woolworths, Spar, Games, Mr. Price etc.
These are located in shopping centers, just like in SA.
Places
to Visit in Lilongwe
While in Lilongwe, you should visit the Old
Town. It is the place where you will find the best hotels, shops and
restaurants. There is the Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary, which is located
in the centre of the city.

There is only 1 major airport in Lilongwe
and it is called Kamuzu International Airport. but is often just called
the Lilongwe International Airport. There is only 1 runway at the
airport.

from South Africa to Lilongwe
The only airline that flies to Lilongwe from
South Africa is SAA (SAA airlines).
Air
Malawi used to fly there, but now only flies there from Blantyre.
