Emirates Flights (www.emirates.co.za)

Emirates is one of the most well known airlines in the world. It is also one of the most popular airlines people choose to fly, mainly owing to the highly competitive prices, as well as the high level of service. They fly to over 130 destinations on 3 different continents. In South Africa, they have flights from all three major cities, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. All flights originating in South Africa, regardless of the destination, fly via Dubai. Emirates flies from Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg to: New York, Toronto, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Dubai (of course), Bangkok, Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Phuket, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo. All of these flights are via Dubai, and the stop-over can be anywhere from a simple refueling, to a few hours, where you actually leave the airplane and spend time in the airport. If you have enough time between flights (and the necessary visa), then you could actually leave the airport and spend some time in Dubai shopping.

about Emirates

Emirates launched in 1985, and is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai. Unlike SAA (flysaa.com), which is still heavily subsidised, Emirates has been profitable every year since it started. Like many other inter-continental airlines, Emirates have their own loyalty program. They call it Skywards. Everytime you fly with them, or use one of their partners (which includes other airlines as well as hotels, car rental etc.) you earn Miles. These miles can be redeemed for a range of services, including flight upgrades, tickets, and with their partners.
Emirates website has a few different spellings, and can also be referred to as flyemirates.com, www.flyemirates.com and www.emirites.co.za
