Cathay Pacific is the
national airline of Hong Kong. It never used to be the case, but after
a few years of double digit growth they bought out Hong Kong Airlines
and became the national flag carrier. It was founded by an American and
an Australian, and later purchased by the Swire Groups and Australian
National Airways. The name was reported inspired as China was often
referred to as Cathay, and Pacific as they believed that they would one
day fly over the Pacific Ocean. Cathay Pacific has won numersou awards
from Skytrax, as well as being awarded the 5 Star airline award.
