Air Malawi is the
national airline
of Malawi. It was started in 1964 and has since gone through a few
years of problems and a few years of growth etc., as have all airlines.
There have been numerous attempts by the Malawian Government to
privatise the airline, with no luck yet. Two suiters wer SAA and
Comair, but the deals fell through due to restrictions placed by the
airlines and some of their requirements. At the moment the fleet or Air
Malawi consists of 2 Boeing 737-300, 1 Boeing 737-200 and 1 ATR 42-320.
As you can see it is a very small fleet, but serves the purposes and
demands of the airline suitably well. As are other airlines,
Air Malawi has a green initiative, whereby they are helping to develop
green spaces.
